The most basic way your crew receives experience is through the fights on the battlefield. By the match’s end, your tank and crew will receive some exp. However, this is also the most time-consuming way to level up your crew mates. To speed up the process, you can get a Premium Account or Premium Tank, which grants you more experience from the matches.
You can also use various consumables to increase your crew’s leveling process, such as Training Booklets, Guides, and Manuals. You can get them by doing daily objectives, though the most effective ones either come as event rewards or are purchased from the in-game store. But a more efficient way to increase skills of your crew is to choose our WoT Crew EXP boost
Crew experience is something that the new players can easily overlook, but this is one of the most crucial aspects of the World of Tank. Each crew member is responsible for certain tank features and, consequently, for your tank’s performance. That can affect many things, such as the speed and maneuverability of the tank, how long it takes for a full aim, how long it takes to reload after each shot, etc.
And that’s just the basics! Once your crew members reach 100% in their role, they can learn additional skills and perks, which can be very important and crucial for good performance during a match. It’s worth noting that one tank can have several crew members of the same role. Similarly, depending on the tank itself, one crew member can be responsible for several specializations. The qualifications present in the game are Commander, Driver, Gunner, Loader, and Radio Operator.
When you get a new tank, it doesn’t come with a completely separate crew. You can transfer your old crew to the new tank, but that might come with certain penalties, especially if your new tank differs in class from the previous one. The penalties usually come in the form of experience and proficiency of the crew with the tank. It’s also possible you won’t have enough people if the new tank requires more people to operate than the last one.
Whatever the case may be, when you need new crew members, you are immediately presented with the choice of how proficient they should be. 50% is the default free option, 75% will cost you 20 000 silver, and 100% will cost 200 gold. Note that any crew member — new or old — whose qualification level is less than 75% can be “retrained” for an immediate higher qualification.
There are more options, however. You can also use Personal Reserves (exp boosters), study Crew Books, accelerate crew training with elite vehicles or enjoy exp bonuses provided by Premium Tanks and Account. Of course, you can also go right into the battle and gradually gain experience. Though this option takes the most time to complete, the crew training and your tank will be harder to handle in the meantime. Or you can just choose our world of tanks crew xp boosting and get done with it in a blink of an eye.
Technically, the limit is very generous since a single crew member can have up to 9 skills simultaneously. That being said, it’s practically impossible to achieve. Even the long-time players with over a thousand battles behind them usually reach the 4th or 5th skill, and for the casual players, the number of skills likely won’t go over the 3rd or even 2nd.
To reiterate, every crew member can have up to 9 active skills/perks. However, unless you’re a hardcore player, you’ll likely have only 2-3 skills per crew member. With every new skill, learning the next one takes progressively more exp, so choosing which skills you want to learn first is crucial.
The game’s exp system can be somewhat confusing, but it can be broadly separated into these four types: Tank EXP, Elite EXP, Crew EXP, and Free EXP. Let’s give each of them a bit of a closer look.
Tank EXP - exp explicitly received by the tank you used during the match. You can spend it to research tank packages or progress further down its tank line. In short, you use it to upgrade the current tank or unlock the next tank in the same tech tree.
Elite EXP - pretty much the same as tank EXP, accumulated by the specific tank after its usage on the battlefield. The difference is that once you fully upgrade your tank, and it becomes “Elite”, there is nothing to spend the Tank EXP on. But rather than not gathering EXP at all, your tank starts collecting Elite EXP, which can be converted into Free EXP for gold. Sadly, there is no other use for Elite EXP outside of conversion.
Suppose you don’t plan to spend gold anytime soon. In that case, you can always turn on the “Crew Training Acceleration,” which will automatically convert all the experience gained by the tank to the crew, practically doubling their exp. It’s completely free too!
Crew EXP - Also called Commander EXP. This is the experience your crew members get after the match. As mentioned above, leveling up your team is as important as upgrading your tank. The higher your crew’s qualification, the better your tank will handle on the battlefield. And once the qualification training is complete, the crew members can learn useful skills and/or perks.
Free EXP - Once again, you gain it for participating in the matches, albeit in smaller amounts than Tank and Crew EXP. This is the universal experience currency, which you can spend on any tank you want. Once again, the extra Tank EXP gained by Elite tanks (also known as Elite EXP) can be converted into Free EXP if you’ve got gold to spare.
