You bet there are! From the very beginning, mounts have been a big part of World of Warcraft. Some of the mounts can be purchased for a bit of gold, but there are also rare, epic and even legendary mounts for players to seek out. Even though mounts don’t provide any kind of advantage in most battles and many function very similarly, they still function as a depiction of their owner’s status. And some mounts look so impressive, they are surely to attract even more attention from the passing players than many legendary weapons.
Unlike retail WoW, Classic WoW doesn't have a wide variety of riding skills for players to master. However, you’re not getting your first mount until you reach at least level 40. At this point, you can learn to ride the mounts specific to your race after specific training. But to learn this race-specific riding skill, you’d have to pay 20 gold, which was quite a hefty price for starting players at a time.
In WoW classic, mounts weren’t as widespread as they are today and even riding one in the first place was quite an achievement. While there were some mount drops from bosses, most players would start from buying a mount specific to their race. That being said, all prices were standardized between all the races:
However, by raising reputation with a faction you’re purchasing the mount from and by ranking up in PvP, it’s possible to get a discount:
Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal, also known as Black Qiraji Battle Tank, is undoubtedly the rarest mount in WoW Classic. Due to some truly brutal and unorthodox requirements to get this mount, only a couple people per server would manage to get this mount at best. Though when WoW just came out, it’d most often end at just one person per server. There are a couple mounts that might compete with Black Qiraji Battle Tank in rarity, but it's arguable if such mounts should be even counted since they were available only through means outside of the game itself, such as mounts from WoW’s original card game.
Overall, there were over hundred mounts in WoW Classic, though a large portion of them are unobtainable for various reasons, leaving us only with around 70 of them. Still, most of these mounts are simply purchased from the vendors. Only a handful of mounts, which were available only as rare drops from raids and mounts or had any other unique requirements, were truly prestigious.
