Q: How do you get molten core attunement?

To get the Molten Core attunement the players have to complete the “Attunement to the Core” quest, given by the blood elf NPC Lothos Riftwaker. He is located right inside the Blackrock Mountain, close to the Grinding Quarry entrance. Lothos will ask you to venture into the Blackrock Depths, retrieve the Core Fragment and bring it back to him. Conveniently, the Core lies right beside the portal to the Molten Core so you don’t have to go off the planned path if you were already heading there. Just bring the Core back to Lothos either immediately or after finishing the raid and he’ll open the shortcut.

Q: Does Molten Core require attunement?

Technically, no. You could even argue that it’s not a real attunement, since you don't have to complete the quest to enter the raid. However, completing this “attunement” will make the subsequent visits to the Molten Core much more convenient for you, since you’ll no longer have to run through the entirety of Blackrock Depths to get to the raid.
