Does gear matter in New World?

Equipment boasting higher Gear Scores exhibit greater potency in New World. As the Gear Score increases, weapons deliver more devastating blows, while armor offers enhanced protection. Moreover, items with elevated Gear Scores possess the potential to feature an increased number of Perks, or even more potent iterations of existing Perks, amplifying their effectiveness in combat.

How to increase Gear Score?

There are several methods to boost your gear score in New World:

1. Enhancements: Augmenting your equipment with enchantments can elevate its gear score, enhancing its overall effectiveness in combat.

2. Star Augmentation: Adding stars to your gear is another avenue for increasing its gear score, bolstering its capabilities further.

3. Reforging: Reforging your gear allows you to optimize its attributes, potentially raising its gear score in the process.

In dungeon environments, gear score can be augmented by leveling up your Catacombs Level.
